Members must be at least thirteen or have a guardian's permission to join.
It’s not just our rule; it’s US law, and ProBoards requires it of anybody who signs up. In all honesty, anybody below thirteen might find this to be not the most appropriate role-play of them all. There will be no graphic sex (in fact, no role-played sex at all, not even for dragon breeding), but realistic violence and profanity are permitted.

Keep your screen-name appropriate!
Accounts with inappropriate names will be promptly deleted to avoid offending anybody.

No spamming, bumping, or general double posting.
Spam is Short Pointless Annoying Messages; in other words, it's generally posted with the intent of irritating the staff.
Bumping is making short posts in order to keep your thread at the top of the page.
Double posting is, well, double posting. It's irritating and takes up board space; instead of editing with another post, edit with the 'Modify' button. This does not apply to guests, as you cannot change your posts, but please try to include everything the first time around...

No advertising without affiliating.
Our affiliation board is for affiliating only. That means you need a banner for your site, have our banner up, and make sure everybody, even guests, can see it.

Leet or 1337 should never show up in the OOC areas or the role-play.
This board is intermediate, and we would like our members to act it.

Keep profanity to a minimum in the OOC areas.
Cursing can be considered offensive to some, and offending people is bad.

At least try to put topics in the correct category.
It helps us out and keeps the staff happy. Happy staff are less likely to ban you, so it's a win-win situation.

Stay on topic.
If you want to get tips on how to treat your dog's current illness, then make a new thread about it; don't reply to a thread talking about the role-play plot.

No multiple accounts.
There is currently not a limit on how many characters you may have, so you don’t need to make multiple accounts. If you create accounts with the same email, unless you can find some means to prove that you are two entities, just use two different emails. It’s not that hard to get a G-mail account or something and only use it once, to activate your account.
If there is a character limit instated, any accounts with the same email will be instantly banned.

Please be active!
It’s rude to join, start a role-play, and then leave your character hanging. If you’re going on vacation, let us know in the ‘Departures’ sub-board.
Staff members who go inactive will be transferred to the ‘Veterans’ category; they will still be considered ‘staff’ (meaning they can see the staff chat section), but have no real powers (such as deleting threads, banning members, modifying profiles, etc.).
If you have a position of importance in one of our board-wide sub-plots and go inactive, your character will be treated as an NPC. Your character will not die, but their actions will be dictated by the staff.

Don't insult other members.
Members have the right to their own opinions and feelings; never discriminate against them for this or against the member themselves. This means that there are to be no flame wars here, either.
Even if you mean the insult in joking, unless you're certain that the other members will know that you're joking (which is, basically, never), then don't make any insulting implications, no matter how subtle.

Racism, sexism, and other such things are not allowed outside of role-play.
Look, guys, I'm sorry, but black people are just as good as white people and women are no less than men...

No PM wars!
If you have to have one, then don't complain to us if you lose. It's not our problem, and you'll be warned for having participated in it in the first place. Report the member who is trying to start one immediately instead of replying.

Don't send the staff pointless PMs!
In general, please try to avoid sending us more than one PM at a time. If you forget something, unless it's vital that we know about it, then please wait for us to reply before adding it on.

Use common sense!
If you wouldn't do something in real life, then don't do it here! If you think something would get you into trouble, then don't do it here!

Always ask if you're not sure!
I'd much prefer that you ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake.

 Character Rules

No Mary Sues!
They’re irritating, they won’t be accepted, and nobody really will want to role-play with one. This role-play is of an intermediate level, and

When making your first character, a role-play sample is required.
It only has to happen with your first character. You can make multiple if you’re bored, but we just want to be certain that you’re up-to-snuff before we accept your character.

Make your character realistic!
Personality and physical wise. Someone who spent half of their life wrongfully imprisoned would probably not be happy-go-lucky, and I also doubt that very many five-year-olds are sadistic and out for revenge. On that same token, somebody who doesn’t have to work would probably be a little overweight, whereas someone who works in a physically demanding occupation would most likely be muscular or at least thin.

Be original!
The generic, racing supporter of the Dragon Booster gets boring. What about a character who doesn't race? What about a character who isn't anorexic-thin? Try something different here.

Don't repeat already used names.
"Hi, Bob. How are you today?"
"Fine, Bob, how about you?"
"Good, too, Bob, thanks for asking."
Beginning to see the problem? It gets confusing, and it seems vaguely like Bob is talking to himself...

Gold, grey, and light green bone dragons are restricted to higher ranking members.
Light greens go only to super-class-and-up racers; golds and greys can only be registered by elite ranking members.

No new draconium colors!
We’re sticking to canon on this one. There will be no new draconium colors here.

While there is currently no limit on the number of characters you may have, the staff reserves the right to place limits or holds in place if this privilege is abused.
Yep, that's right. Since we've bumped the board level to 'intermediate', we're going to place a little more responsibility in your hands. You guys can create as many characters as you choose; we're trusting you not to go overboard. However, if there is a problem with this, we can and will reinstate the character hiatus.
However, to keep the number of profiles being assessed at one time down, only one character per member may be undergoing the registration process at once. Any more than that and both characters will be automatically denied.

You may not role-play with an unregistered character.
Since you might end up making some big changes to a character, role-playing with them before they are totally registered can destroy the continuity of the role-play (I doubt it would, but it's still very possible).

Humans cannot speak or understand 'Dragon'.
I don't care if your human was born to and raised by dragons (ahem, just taking it to the extreme...), humans are incapable of interpreting or replicating the dragon's specific sounds. Humans can get the gist of a dragon's meaning via body language, expressions, and general tone/sounds (growls, roars, etc.).

NOTE: There is one and only one exception to the above rule. Orange riders can understand their dragons sometimes, under certain conditions, those conditions being that they have Orange Harnessing Gear on, that the gear is activated, AND that the dragon is actually thinking to them. Yes, thinking. Orange dragons control their riders using thought and Harnessing Gear, so it stands to reason the rider can understand the dragon's thoughts, even though they can't understand the growls and roars and whatnot. This means that when the Harnessing Gear isn't turned on or the dragon isn't thinking to the rider, the rider CANNOT understand the dragon.

 Role-play Rules

No god-modding!
God-modding is when you portray your character as all-powerful and unbeatable. This is almost always done with the intent to glorify your character.

No power-playing!
Power-playing is taking control of another person's character. Ths includes saying that the person 'cried out in pain', 'died', or anything to that extent that would normally be done by the owner of the character.

No auto-hitting!
Auto-hitting is when you don't give your opponent a chance to dodge in a fight. Give others a chance to dodge! If you ever reach the point where you feel it's necessary to auto-hit to actually deal some damage, then report it to us and we will assess the problem ourselves; don't get yourself into trouble by trying to solve it yourself.

NPCs are fair game for anybody to control.
NPCs are, as I've lately learned, non-player characters. That means that they aren't registered, and thus aren't 'claimed' by any one person. They can be controlled by anybody without it being god-modding.
You can kindly request that people not control your NPC, but it's ultimately the decision of your fellow role-players if they control your NPC. They can auto-hit, god-mod, or power-play (although, in the case of NPCs, it isn't really the latter two) for your character, but your NPC still can't do any of those three.
Administration may ban control of certain NPCs for plot purposes.

Remember that the rating is PG for everything besides fighting.
This means that profanity should be kept to a minimum (never use the 'f-word') and there is still no graphic sex.

Keep OOC comments to a minimum in the role-play.
You can ask questions and such if they're small, but if anything is larger than a small paragraph, please either take it to the 'Role-play Chat' board or private message eachother about it.

There is a two paragraph minimum per post.
There may be a few exceptions made for No-Muse Days, but you can't have writer's block daily.
One liners are unnaceptable!

Characters cannot be in more than once place at a time.
Seeing as there's no limit for characters, you should have no shortage of characters with which you can join RPs.
The only exception to this rule is if your character is in a regular role-play and an official competition at the same time. Your character may not, however, be in two official competitions at once. Street races, battles, jousts, or drag-ball tournaments are not counted official competitions.

Keep role-play relative to the Dragon Booster universe!
There is no Kraft Macaroni, McDonalds, or Thompson machine guns in Dragon Booster, so they shouldn't show up in the role-play. Characters might eat a Draconee-Yum Bar; they might eat at a Burger Jak; they would use a blocking staff for a weapon. Try sticking to that sort of thing, not our real-life items.

 Gear Rules

All gear you use must have first been bought in a gear shop.
As long as you bought it from the shops, you can further decide how your character 'acquired' it. Your character can have stolen it, built it, whatever, so long as it was bought.

The only exception to the above rule is crew gear.
When you join a crew, you will get a 'default' gear. This gear comes free of charge and is picked by the crew leader. It isn't going to be really powerful, like gray or light green draconium gears, but it's still going to be gear.

Always make sure you have enough drakkals to buy a gear before requesting.
You can easily check by looking at your mini-profile. IOUs don't work at Dragon Legends.

Gear only goes to one character.
You buy one gear for one character only. If you want to give three characters the same gear, you have to buy that gear three times.

You may not add the gear to your profile as soon as you request it.
The drakkals must first be subtracted from your profile. A staff member will inform you of the subtracted drakkals when that happens.

Pay attention to the 'Updates' board for various gear sales.
On holidays, certain colors of gear will go on sale. These colors are usually associated with the holiday (the fourth of July would put red, white, and blue gears on sale; Halloween would put orange, black, and purple gears on sale; etc.). On Christmas, all gears go on sale.

Gears have no levels.
That would be too confusing to keep track of, and somebody might try to take advantage of that.

Gear cannot be upgraded.
Ditto.

In case you haven't figured it out, gear stats can't be changed.
Hopefully you realized...

Temporary gears are allowed, with specific administrative permission.
As long as it's returned by the end of the role-play, and isn't gray or light green draconium gear (those are harder to get into the role-play), you've got a good chance of being granted permission. Just ask first.
All temporary gears must be returned by some means by the end of the role-play.

Gear cannot be shared between characters.
One gear goes to one character; if you want three different characters to have the same gear, you have to buy that gear three times.
In the main role-play, if a character and another are 'friends' or 'teammates', they can borrow it. That means it's temporary, and for that role-play only.
In official competitions, nobody can share it. Not staff, not regular members.

If there's a type of gear you have in mind, but doesn't appear in the shops, then you may suggest it in the 'Ideas' board.
Yes, you can request other gear types. I believe we have virtually all the gears from the canon, since our shops are stocked with the gears that were, very kindly, shared with the fans by the creators of Dragon Booster. Members can read more about the gear in Dragon-City.org's Kitt's Guide to Dragon City.

When suggesting in the 'Ideas board', stick to the general rules outlined in the informational thread therein.
If you don't folllow these rules, your request won't even be considered.

Art-

Never, never, never, NEVER steal anybody's art.
This includes written and drawn; simply stylized or manipulated into a panoramic; copyrighted or no. You may absolutely not do anything to art made by someone else unless the artist gives their explicit permission and can somehow prove that it is them; in other words, there's very little chance that you will ever be allowed to.

Don't quote images.
This takes up board space and is just irritating for those of us who have to read it.

Give credit where credit is due!
If you have a signature that isn't already signed by the maker, then at least make an effort to say who it was made by (you don't have to if you made your own signature); if you use a template, then let people know who it was made by!

No sexually expicit, illegal activity supportive, or photos to that extent are allowed.
That's the sort of thing that gets members banned, boards deleted, and other things that I don't want happening on Dragon Legends.

Signatures and avatars are to be kept clean.
They cannot have anything to do with sex, nudity, supporting of drugs, gangs, etc. in them. Any members with such things in their banner will be requested to take it down; if they fail to do so within twenty-four hours, it will be taken down by the staff.

Signatures should be a reasonable size.
Don't stretch the page's width or the board's width; don't make signature's too tall.
If you have to have a specific number, signatures should never be wider than 500 pixels and no taller than 300 pixels.

Also keep your avatar sizes down.
I realize that ProBoards automatically resizes everything too big to 100x100 pixels, but when we go in to modify your profile, your avatar shows up just as big as it was when you uploaded it. Do us all a favor: resize it before uploading it!

 C-box Rules

Don't spam or flood the C-box!
It's pointless. It's irritating. I ban everybody who does it from the C-box, and possibly from the board. This is an intermediate site; try to be a little more mature than normal there.

Grammar is not as important on the C-box as it is in the boards.
So relax a little there; while I can't guarantee that I'll understand your chatspeak (never have and probably never totally will), I can tolerate it on the C-box.

You must first register in order to use the C-box.
Type your name into the proper box. Click ‘profile’. If the name is already protected, it will ask you to log in there. If not, follow the directions to register/protect the name.
If you are already registered, then simply type your name into the correct box, click profile, and log in with your password.

Don't draw unnecessary attention to your site.
The C-box was registered for a faster way of communicating between members, not as a place for advertising your site. Hyperlink your name and that is all.
And don't say anything like, 'Click my name!' or just make a random post to show your hyperlinked name.

Don't hyperlink to any inappropriate sites.
Not everybody wants to see pornography, you know.
Anybody found guilty of this will automatically be banned from the C-box and from the boards.

Don’t fight on the C-box.
I know that, in order to maintain your confidence, you have to defend yourself from attacks, but please, please, try to ignore them until a C-box moderator gets on…

Don't try to get around an IP ban.
If you find out that you've been banned, don't go getting a new IP. We'll just keep banning you, and you'll be reported for spam to the C-box people. Yes, there's an option for that; did you know?
